Southern Region Section 7A
New Section Officers Elected at Conclave

On Saturday evening just prior to the Conclave Theme Show, the lodges elected the following to serve the coming year as our Section Officers:
  • Section Chief - Preston Marquis of Blue Heron Lodge
  • Section Vice Chief - Thomas Johnson of Tutelo Lodge
  • Section Secretary - Ben Webster of Tutelo Lodge

New Section Advisers Appointed

On Sunday, April 25th, Herb Smith who has served as the Section Adviser since 2005, turned over the position to Mike White of Shenandoah Lodge. Mike comes into the position with plenty of experience. In the past Mike has served as Lodge Chief of Shenandoah Lodge, Section Chief of SR-6B, Lodge Adviser of Shenandoah Lodge, and most recently as Associate Section Adviser. Congratulations Mike!

In addition, Ken Lyons, the Section Staff Adviser turned over the Staff Adviser position after 6 years of service, to Bill Givler of Heart of Virginia Council.

New Section Chief Elected

On Saturday, February 13th as a part of the Section business, an election was held to fill the vacancy of Section Chief, created with the election of Will Swingle as National Vice Chief. There were two nominations, Will Miller of Tutelo lodge and Nick Harman of Nawakwa.

The Council of Chiefs elected Nick Harman to serve as Section Chief for the remainder of the term. Congratulations Nick and Will for being willing to take on the the task of seeing the section through Conclave '10.

Section Chief Elected as National Vice Chief

On Sunday, December 27th the Natioal OA Planning meeting began with the election of the National Officers being the first agenda item for the 50 Section Chiefs to address. When the balloting had completed, the following results were announced:

  • Nation Chief - Brad Lichota of Chippewa Lodge, Great Lakes Council
  • National Vice Chief - Will Swingle of Nawakwa Lodge, Heart of Virginia Council
  • Rich Ferolo elected as the Central Region Chief
  • Brian Ahrens elected as the Northeast Region Chief
  • Don Combs elected as the Southern Region Chief
  • Fred Gross elected as the Western Region Chief
